Pecan-crusted tofu

Serves 5

Tip: If you've never tried tofu, this is an excellent introduction. Use whatever nuts you have on hand.

  1. Add 1/2 cup pecans.
  2. Add 1/4 cup all-purpose flour.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons brown sugar.
  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt.
  5. Process until combined.
  6. Place in medium bowl.
  7. Cut 15 ounces extra-firm tofu into 5 planks.
  8. Whisk 1/2 cup egg whites.
  9. Dip tofu planks into egg whites.
  10. Dip into pecan mixture.
  11. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 400 F.
  12. Add 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard.
  13. Add 1 tablespoon maple syrup.
  14. Add 2 tablespoons honey.
  15. Stir until smooth.
