Self-care

Feeding, cuddling, or offering something to suck may soothe a crying child. If frustration runs high, let someone else take over or place baby in a crib.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Breathing difficulty

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Depression in older children and adults
  • Child's crying is unexplained and doesn't stop after one day
  • Fever, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Rash
