Wear a seatbelt and secure children in car seats while driving. Use head protection if necessary, such as while bicycling, riding motorcycles, or playing contact sports.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Persistent or worsening headache
  • Repeated vomiting or nausea
  • Convulsions or seizures
  • Dilation of one or both pupils of the eyes
  • Confusion or memory problems

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Mood changes or mood swings
  • Feeling depressed or anxious
