When lifting someone who has hypotonia, be sure to support the head and neck to avoid causing injury.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Injured
  • Headache
  • Confusion or memory loss

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Increased clumsiness and falling
  • Tingling, weakness, or pain in hands and feet
  • Worsens
  • Weakness spreads to other parts of body
