Orthostatic hypotension

A form of low blood pressure that happens when standing after sitting or lying down.
Overview
Orthostatic hypotension also is called postural hypotension. Many things can cause it, including dehydration and some heart conditions. Older age and some medicines can raise the risk of orthostatic hypotension.
Symptoms
The main symptom of orthostatic hypotension is lightheadedness or dizziness when standing after sitting or lying down. Other symptoms can include fading vision, weakness, fainting, confusion and a feeling of heaviness in the head, neck or shoulders.
Treatments
Orthostatic hypotension treatment depends on the cause. Lifestyle changes may help. Sometimes, medicines are needed to raise blood pressure or the amount of blood in the body.
