Description

Low blood pressure.

Self-care

Rise slowly from sitting or lying down. Drink plenty of water. Don't drink alcohol. Eat small meals that are low in carbohydrates. Try to get at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity each day.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a healthcare professional right away for:

  • Confusion, especially in an older person.
  • Fainting.
  • Rapid, shallow breathing.
  • Cold, clammy skin and decrease in skin color.

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a healthcare professional for:

  • Dizziness.
  • Fatigue.
  • Lack of concentration.
  • Blurred or fading vision.
  • Taking medicine that might cause a drop in blood pressure.
