Fear

Self-care

If there's no real immediate threat, take steps to relax, such as breathing slowly and deeply. Having a talk with a friend or family member may help diminish fear.

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Experiencing a panic attack, with symptoms such as a racing heart, shortness of breath, upset stomach, or a feeling of dread

When to make a doctor's appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • Disrupting ability to work or complete daily activities
