A cancer that begins in the organs that produce eggs, called the ovaries.
Overview
Ovarian cancer starts as a growth of cells in the ovaries. The ovaries are part of the female reproductive system. They produce eggs and make hormones.
Symptoms
Symptoms include abdominal bloating or swelling, quickly feeling full when eating, losing weight, and discomfort in the pelvic area. Symptoms often aren't noticeable at first.
Treatments
Surgery and chemotherapy are generally used to treat ovarian cancer. Other treatments may include targeted therapy, hormone therapy and immunotherapy.
