Heart failure

Overview

Heart failure is a chronic condition in which the heart doesn't pump blood as well as it should.

Symptoms

Symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, swollen legs, and rapid heartbeat.

Treatments

Treatments can include eating less salt, losing weight, exercising more, medications, and surgery. A device might need to be implanted to help the heart work.
