Overview

A chemical burn is damage to the skin and tissues caused by chemical contact.

Symptoms

Symptoms may include pain, blisters, and inflamed skin in the burned area. Chemical burns might also cause a headache and problems with breathing.

Treatments

Treatment often involves removing any remaining chemical and rinsing and loosely wrapping the area. Severe burns need emergency care.
