Basal cell carcinoma

Description

A type of skin cancer that begins in the basal cells.

Overview

Basal cell carcinoma is skin cancer that begins in the basal cells. Basal cells produce new skin cells as old ones die.

Symptoms

This cancer typically happens on sun-exposed skin, such as the face and neck. It may look like a bump on the skin or a sore that won't heal.

Treatments

Treatments include surgery to remove the cancer or prescription creams or medications.
