Aneurysm

Overview

An aneurysm is a weakened area in an artery that balloons out. Aneurysms often occur in the aorta, brain, back of the knee, intestine, or spleen. A ruptured aneurysm can result in death.

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms depend on the size and location of the aneurysm.

Treatments

Treatment varies from watchful waiting to emergency surgery. The choice depends on the location, size, and condition of the aneurysm.
