Description

A type of cancer that occurs in the anal canal, a short tube at the end of the rectum.

Overview

Anal cancer is a type of cancer that starts as a growth of cells in the anal canal. The anal canal is a short tube at the end of the rectum.

Symptoms

Symptoms include bleeding from the anus or rectum, pain in the area of the anus, a growth in the anal canal and anal itching.

Treatments

Treatment includes a combination of chemotherapy and radiation. Surgery and immunotherapy may be other options.
