Overview

Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation in the pancreas. The condition can last for days. Common causes include gallstones and alcohol abuse.

Symptoms

Symptoms include upper abdominal pain that radiates to the back and nausea.

Treatments

The condition requires hospitalization. Treatments include IV fluids, medications, and surgery.
