About the JMH Emergency Care Center





About Our Facility

Our 17,400-square-foot emergency care facility opened in 2020 and features more space, a new ambulance bay and a helicopter landing area.

It is part of a $47 million, state-of-the-art addition that also includes a new Main Entrance and Outpatient Services Center. It was the largest expansion project in JMH history.

Johnson Memorial Health partners with Boone County Emergency Medicine, an award-winning physician-owned group, to staff and manage the Emergency Department 



When to Visit the ER

Seek emergency care for:

  • Severe chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Sudden weakness, numbness, or slurred speech
  • Head injuries or severe trauma
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • High fever with rash
  • Suspected poisoning

Stroke Ready Certified

Johnson Memorial Health has been accredited with Stroke Ready Certification by the Healthcare Facility Accreditation Program (HFAP).

Accreditation confirms that we are providing high quality stroke care. Our team has received special training to recognize and treat stroke patients with tPA, the clot-busting drug, administered to eligible patients.

We have the ability to care for our stroke patients in our emergency department then to home health therapy and outpatient therapy.
